
11 Young Footballers Named Emerging Player Award Winners At Durand Cup
Eleven young footballers who impressed during the ongoing Durand Cup have been selected for the Emerging Player Award, with each recipient set to receive a prize of Rs 1 lakh. The Durand Football Tournament Society has recognised promising performers from all six groups of the competition.
Among the standout players is 19-year-old Veer Arjun Joshi of Samaleswari Sporting, who scored a memorable free-kick in the 81st minute against Mohammedan Sporting to help his side secure a 3-2 victory.
Indian Army FT's Saikhom Borish Singh was also recognised for his energetic attacking displays, regularly taking on defenders and creating chances. From Indian Air Force FT, Samuel K. Vanlalpeka and Naorem Somananda Singh made an impact against strong opposition, scoring against SC Delhi and Sri Lankan Armed Forces side Defenders FC, respectively.
South United FC's Md. Altab Hussain and Rinshid V earned awards for their consistent performances. Altab, a striker from Manipur, impressed with his direct running and attacking intent, while midfielder Rinshid showed his ability to compete against more experienced opponents after entering the club through regional trials.
Midul Doley of FC Raengdai was the sole awardee from Group D, providing an attacking outlet for the debutants. Langsning FC forward Kyrmenskhem Mukhim scored twice during the group stage, while Dawancha Carlos Challam of Nongkseh SS & CC contributed two goals and an assist from midfield.
Bodoland FC's Rituraj Mohan was rewarded for his work rate and defensive discipline, while Lalpekhlua Lalpekhlua of Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC impressed with his pace and ability to stretch defences from the flank.
The awards aim to encourage emerging talent from across the country and recognise players who used the Durand Cup to test themselves against established teams and professionals.
