
₹1,000 Aid for Women Under Kalaignar Scheme to Be Credited Shortly: CM Vijay
The Tamil Nadu government will soon release the ₹1,000 May installment under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme for eligible women beneficiaries, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced.
According to an official release, the amount will be directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts in the coming days. The government also said that time is required to restructure the welfare scheme , which was originally introduced by the previous DMK regime and named after late leader M Karunanidhi .
“The government needs time to restructure the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai, under which Rs 1,000 is given to women. The Chief Minister has directed that the May installment will be deposited soon,” the statement said.
The scheme continues to provide monthly financial assistance to women beneficiaries across the state as part of ongoing welfare measures.
Meanwhile, TVK, led by Vijay, had earlier made an election promise of ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women under 60 years as part of its manifesto ahead of the April 23 elections.
