10 govt. Polytechnics in Andhra without permanent buildings

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday announced that the State government has set a target to provide permanent buildings for 10 government polytechnics that are currently functioning without their own infrastructure.

Lokesh said that construction work has already commenced for two polytechnic colleges. For another five institutions located at Chodavaram, Ponnur, Bethamcharla, Mydukur, and Guntakal sites have been allotted and groundwork is underway.

However, three polytechnics at Machilipatnam, Krishnapuram, and Anaparthi are yet to receive site allotments. The Minister assured that land for these colleges will be identified and sanctioned soon.

He further stated that the government will approach the Centre to seek financial assistance for the construction of these institutions. In addition to central support, the State aims to mobilize resources from the State budget, Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

“Our target is to ensure that all ten government polytechnics have their own permanent buildings. This will strengthen technical education and provide better facilities for students,” Lokesh emphasized.

The initiative of constructing new buildings for the polytechnics marks a significant policy step, as the absence of permanent infrastructure has long been a concern for students and faculty in several government-run polytechnics. The public hopes that this investment will not only strengthen the education system but also contribute to the State’s long-term goal of becoming a hub for skilled manpower.
