₹1 Crore Insurance Relief for Families of TGSRTC Drivers Who Died in Road Accidents
Families of drivers from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) who lost their lives in road accidents have received ₹1 crore each under an accident insurance arrangement linked to employees’ salary accounts. The support was extended through Union Bank of India under the Union Super Salary Account (USSA) framework, which provides high-value insurance coverage without employees having to pay a premium .
The beneficiaries include families of drivers from the Kushaiguda and Uppal depots . The payout comes under an enhanced accidental death cover introduced as part of a welfare collaboration aimed at strengthening social security for frontline transport staff who face daily road risks. The scheme also covers cases of permanent disability , ensuring financial protection for employees in high-risk service conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Y. Nagi Reddy , Vice Chairman and Managing Director of TGSRTC, said employee welfare remains a key priority for the corporation. He noted that extending financial security to families of staff who die in the line of duty is both an institutional responsibility and a humanitarian commitment, helping reduce financial distress during sudden tragedies.
Bank representatives stated that the objective of the scheme is to provide timely relief and long-term stability to bereaved families. Officials expressed hope that the assistance would help families rebuild their lives, offering reassurance that structured support systems exist for employees and their dependents in times of crisis.
